As Executive Director of Community Action Centre - Nepal, I am delighted welcome you to our website and present the work that CAC-Nepal has been doing since 1993. My team and I are committed and passionate about advocating for the rights of women and children in Nepal and CAC-Nepal has played a vital role in the fight for access to education and economic empowerment for women and children and in the field of HIV and AIDS. The key to our success has been about working in partnership with local communities and national and international partners from the grassroots level to the policy level. We believe that the empowerment of those we work for and with is the key to truely sustainable economic and social development for the women and children of Nepal. From October 2011, our partnership with FHI 360 was extended and CAC-Nepal expanded and developed the original ASHA Project to become Saath Saath Project (SSP), an Integrated FP, HIV prevention, care, treatment services for FSWs, clients of FSW and PLHIV in Bhaktapur district. Through our Outreach Educators and Community Mobilisers, CAC-Nepal works with FSW's and women at risk of sexual exploitation and trafficking to highlight their risk to HIV and AIDS. Currently, within the Bhaktapur Districts, we cover 41 sites and offer these women access to our medical, educative and counseling services. We also work with the clients of sex workers in our HIV and AIDS awareness programme. CAC-Nepal also provides STI, VCT and CST services to all risk population of Bhaktapur district.

From August 18, 2011, CAC-Nepal Executive Director and currently National Network Coordinator of Shanti Malika, Ms. Tulasa Lata Amatya, had actively participated on hunger strike for 'Sambidhan Ka Lagi Mahila Dabab Abhiyan' to pressurize for making new constitution in stipulated time.

CAC-Nepal organized "Stigma and Discrimination Reduction Training" to Female Sex Workers (FSWs) which was held on 23rd July 2011 in CAC-Nepal Drop In Center, Jamal. This training programme basically aimed at providing a significant knowledge to the target group on HIV and AIDS relating to the stigma and discrimination in toda's society focusing on condom negotiation, partner reduction and safer sex.

A same type of training was also held on August 3, 2011 at Naxal, Police Head Quarter for Uniform Service. The main objective of this training was to reduce the HIV and AIDS related Stigma and discrimination and provide the knowledge about HIV and AIDS among the Uniform services. CAC-Nepal is also planning to provide same types of training to all level of Uniform services.





Major Achievements


Community Action Centre-Nepal (CAC-Nepal) organized " Collaborative Research Planning Workshop on Women and Girls Trafficking in Nepal" on April 04, 2011 with key stakeholders working in the field of human trafficking prevention in Nepal in association with Collaborative Research Team. The main objective of the workshop was to identify factors that contribute to or impede prevention of women and girls trafficking in Nepal.
